Lodders’ Agricultural and Landed Estates team has made its second senior hire in as many months, with Nicky Beach joining as an associate.
Nicky has previously worked at several regional law firms, and has extensive experience in a variety of work for farmers, landowners, rural and agricultural businesses.
Last month (September) the team appointed Rupert Burchett also as an associate, to work with the firm’s expanding agricultural and rural client portfolio across Warwickshire, the Cotswolds, and Oxfordshire.
“Nicky’s breadth of experience working across every aspect of farming, from sales and purchases of farms and land to agricultural tenancies, makes her a highly knowledgeable and resourceful addition to our growing team, which has seen sustained growth in the volume of work from the region,” says Lodders’ partner and head of the Agricultural and Landed Estates team, James Spreckley.
“With first-hand experience of the challenges of farming from the family farm near Alcester, Warwickshire run by Nicky and her husband, her legal experience in working with those in the rural community, and genuine love of the countryside, means Nicky has a clear appreciation and understanding of the needs of and demands on our clients’ and their businesses. She will prove to be an excellent addition to our team.”
Nicky explains: “My role will involve acting for farming and land-owning clients in relation to sales and purchases of farms and land, agricultural tenancies, easements, mortgages and refinancing, partnerships, advising on succession planning and generally assisting clients with agricultural and rural legal matters.
Family farm
“Agriculture is a pretty specialised area” she adds, “and I believe my legal and first-hand experience of the farming world from our family-owned fruit and vegetable farm, gives me a greater understanding of clients’ needs and the challenges that their businesses may be facing.
“I am looking forward to working with James and the rest of the agricultural team and being part of such a well-established firm that is well known for its agricultural specialism.”
