Lodders’ Real Estate partner, Alastair Frew, together with Simon Harris of Howkins and Harrison Chartered Surveyors, brokered the deal, between Stroud Park and the electric vehicle (EV) charging point providers, InstaVolt, which will enable employees at Stroud Park’s resident businesses, hotel guests and restaurant visitors to recharge electric vehicles on site.
Headquartered in Hampshire, InstaVolt develops, installs, owns and operates rapid EV charging stations across the UK, for the benefit of electric vehicle drivers, the landowners that house charging units and the environment.
Alastair says the deal confirms the emerging trend for electric and hybrid vehicle ownership and growing environmental awareness in the UK: “2020 has been hailed as a breakthrough year for electric cars, with the UK government announcing last week that it is doubling the funding for the installation of electric vehicle charge points on residential streets to £10 million, in a bid to make electric cars ‘the new normal.’
“Public access to electric car recharging infrastructure is the key to encouraging increased use of electric cars and unlocking their potential to reduce UK carbon emissions,” he comments. “There are currently over 24,000 electric car charging points available to the public, and the recent increase in government funding could see another 3,600 installed across the country.
“It has been exciting to work with InstaVolt on securing the EV charging points at Stroud Park, to enable EV drivers living, working and visiting Banbury to conveniently access a rapid and reliable charging network which is 100% powered by renewable energy sources.”
He adds: “Lodders’ Real Estate team has seen significant growth in landlord and tenant work within the renewable energy sector, and acts for landowners with solar farm tenants, as well as a gas-powered electricity reserve power station which assists the solar and wind energy grids. As a practice, we are fully engaged in this new world of low-carbon electricity generation, and understand the importance of facilitating public access to renewable energy infrastructure.”
